Why should I take this course?
Typically, there are three reasons why drivers participate in this course: You received a traffic ticket, the Court has required you to take an 8-hour traffic violator course or you want an insurance premium reduction.

When you are involved in a traffic collision or commit a traffic violation, these incidents are assigned "points". In some instances, you may be assigned points if you are involved in a collision, even if the collision wasn't your fault! The general premise is that the more severe the violation, the higher the point count. Eventually, if you keep accumulating points, you may be punished with a fine or worse, you may lose your driving privilege. Please keep in mind that there may be limitations as to how many points this course can remove from your record. Additionally, please verify your eligibility before beginning this course.

Insurance premium reduction

My Insurance company told me to take a defensive driving course. Once I show proof of completion, I get a reduction in my insurance premiums. Great! Not only will this make you a safer driver, it will put a little money back into your pocket. Typically, insurance discounts are good for three years. Make sure you check with your insurance agent for eligibility requirements before you begin this course.

How do I know if my Court will accept this Traffic School program?

Most Courts in California have approved this Traffic School for use and you will see our program listed on the list of approved home study programs given to you by the Court. If you are eligible for traffic school and your court has given you the option of a "home study program", then your citation will be dismissed as soon as that court receives your completion certificate. This course replaces the 8-hour walk-in traffic school requirement. Please check with your Court if you are unsure of our approval.

If you hold a commerical drivers license you cannot take this traffic school to remove points from your drivers license record
Pursuant to Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations, the court may not order or permit a person who holds a class A, class B, or commercial class C drivers license to complete a licensed traffic violator school, a licensed driving school, or any other court-approved program of driving instruction in lieu of adjudicating any traffic offense committed by the holder of a class A, class B, or commercial class C drivers license.

Every court has different requirements. Selecting the wrong court may result in improper processing of your certificate of completion which may result in an unnecessary delay or a mistake while routing your certificate. This may result in additional fines or fees, which you will be responsible for. If you are uncertain which court to select call the court to verify which one you received your citation from.

How can I contact my court ? Log onto www.courtinfo.ca.gov/courts/trial/courtlist.htm

What if my deadline or due date has passed?
All of the courts are run a little differently. Some require that you pay for your ticket prior to granting permission to do traffic school. Other courts have you attend traffic school first and then turn in your certificate with your bail amount. Either way your court handles it, you are given a completion/due date and this date is to be taken very seriously. If you're due date is within a few days or is past due, you may wish to contact the court and request an extension. Many courts grant extensions and will work with you to allow extra time to complete your traffic school obligations.

I have attended traffic school within the past 18 months. Can I take your online traffic school Program if I've received another ticket?
most courts have allowed drivers to attend traffic school just once every 18 months. Most courts have applied this same limitation to home study programs but, in certain cases, an exception may be made. Under Section 41501 of the California Vehicle Code, the judge may allow you to take traffic school again to keep a citation off your record, even if you have attended traffic school, or taken a home study program within the past 18 months. In order to do so, you'll have to appear before the court with a good reason why you should be allowed to take traffic school again. The decision is at the sole discretion of the court.

How many quizzes/exams are there?
This Traffic School internet course is designed in 6 sections. Each section has a 10 question practice quiz (multiple-choice and true/false). In each section there will be a KEYWORD which you should write down when you come across it in the section chapter text, because you will need to answer the KEYWORD question correctly prior to beginning each quiz. The final exam consists of 25 questions mainly taken directly from the chapter quizzes. You must pass the final exam with a score of 80% or higher. Note : If your county requires you to take your final exam thru a third party provider ( Coordinated Court Services or NTSA ) The number of final exam questions will be from 40 questions to 45 muliple choice questions.

Please note: You will be able to retake the quizzes and final exam

Identity verification, what is that?
Identity verification is a procedure whereupon you as the student are required to prove your identity

Identity verification is required in the following counties only:
  • Alameda (all students)
  • Kern County (Out of state students exempt)
  • Kings County (Out of state students exempt)
  • Madera County ( All students )
  • San Bernardino County (Out of state students exempt and
residents of Joshua Tree exempt - certificate will be sent to address in Joshua Tree
    )
  • San Diego County (all students )
For the following CCS counties ID verification is now required and the process and fee will be explained to the student after they are linked over to CCS's website to take the final exam. ( Glenn, Imperial, Napa, Stanislaus, Santa Cruz, and Tuolumne ) See below under special final exam instructions for CCS counties
  • Remember: All home study programs approved in those counties MUST require your identity be verified so if they're telling you something different It is suggested that you call and ask the court.

This Traffic School offers two options for identity verification.

OPTION 1: Online Identity Verification (EXPERIAN) - Fee $9.00
  • You must have a significant credit history.
  • This is a soft hit and will not show on your credit file.
(Teens, Workbook Students or Students with little or no credit history will not be able to use this option.
Individuals with security blocks on their credit file must temporarily remove the security block before the online ID verification process can be completed)
To choose this option, simply select the "Online ID Verification" option after you have selected the court district your ticket/citation was issued in. When you are ready to begin the Final Exam you will be prompted and directed to the Experian website to verify your identity. You will be given the opportunity to verify specific credit information using your own credit history.
Important Note: At no time does the Traffic School have access to any of your credit information.
On the Experian site you will be asked to enter certain information to begin the process. Only enter what is requested, don't omit any information requested. Then double check your entries for typing errors, omissions, and incorrect information before submitting the information to Experian
( If they are unable to match the information you entered with their information for your credit history they will fail you at that point, and the $ 9.00 fee will be collected).
If you are advanced to the next part of the ID verification process you will be given a selection of three to six questions for verification.

Sample questions that might be asked :

If you fail the ID Verification process you are welcome to try again for an additional fee of $9.00. Whether you pass or fail the results will be immediately relayed to the traffic school.

The $9.00 fee will be collected whether you pass, fail, or your ID verification is terminated/expired because you opened a new session / logged back in after completing the ID verification process and before completing the final exam and submitting it for grading.
If you successfully pass the ID verification process you will be able to complete the Final Exam online, otherwise you will have to complete the Notary Public process for ID verification.
(See option 2)

OPTION 2: In-Person Notary Public - Fee up to $10.00 max

To choose this option, simply select the "In-Person ID Verification" option after you have selected the court district your ticket/citation was issued in. With this option you will be required to print out the Final Exam, Answer Sheet and Notary Verification form and take all the printed documentation, or the workbook if you are a workbook student, to a Notary of your choice. You will then have to show a valid picture ID to the notary and while the notary completes the form you must complete the final exam in the their presence. After you complete the final exam you will then need to fax the final exam answer sheet and the completed Identity Verification form with the notary's signature and notary stamp to the Traffic School for grading and processing.

Where can I find a Notary Public ?

Notaries can be found in any city throughout the State. They're in Fed Ex Kinkos, Postal Annexes, UPS stores etc. after you have finished taking the final exam you can fax the final exam answer sheet, and completed notary form from these facilities which makes it very convenient for you as the student.

Will there be an additional cost for the Notary ?

There may be an additional cost depending on where you find your notary. Many banks, and insurance companies will provide notary services free of charge. Otherwise notaries are limited to charging $10.00 per signature. (Remember: mobile notaries may charge for mileage and/or travel time). All additional fees, if any are the responsibility of the student.

What is the Final Exam like?
Remember: The final examination is essentially a course review and you should not have any problems passing with a score of 80% or higher . In the unlikely event that you do not pass the first time, you may retake the exam as many times as necessary at no additional charge from us.
If you are completing the exam in the presence of a Notary, keep in mind that the notary may charge more for each additional signature required.

You will be taken to either the Coordinated Court Services (CCS) or the National Traffic Safety Administration (NTSA) site.
